Good Guys

Francis W. Porretto

Fiction

In our infinitely tolerant, how-dare-you-disapprove-of-me era, what shall we do with the man of absolute standards and unbending judgment? Must we make room for such an unenlightened relic of dark times long past and best forgotten, or may we reject him utterly? Might we discover, to our extreme surprise, that we can hardly do without him?Erin began drawing dragons on her clothes to hide the stains from free-box finds. Now they are her trademark as she walks the halls of Hamilton High School. She’s puzzled by the actions of the students around her, especially Tony and David, cousins who are constantly fighting. Her own mysteries catch up to her unexpectedly and the consequences will change Erin’s life forever.

Class Action

Fiction

If a creature thinks, it will have a sense for right and wrong, and therefore for justice. But two thinking species are not guaranteed to have the same sense of justice, or the same way of arriving at a verdict. How, then, should one such species treat with the rights of another with whom it shares a world...when one regards the other as its food source, its rightful prey?We always say forgive and forget who poisoned our lives to move ahead. But sometimes it is difficult to do so. If blood bleeds due to some wrong doings by someone, are you going to stop criticising him/ her after his/ her death? Legally yes. You have to drop case against him. But your heart will never allow you to forget and forgive easily. Those who are not the victims can utter those saintly words very easily. But can you, as a victim? The other eight poems are based on contemporary situations of our daily social lives and social relations. Some of them are on serious issues and some are written on lighter vein. I hope my readers will like the compilation.

It’s as least as horrifying as the story. I mean it sincerely. Please read it.This is the third poem in the series of "Dreams As I..." The "Dream" series provides the reader the opportunity to dream those secret dreams with the writer, and discover what can lie just up ahead in life.

May the joy of His Nativity illuminate your Christmas season and be yours throughout the coming New Year. There stood atop a desolated hilltop a funeral parlor by the name of Sunny Hills Funeral Parlor with some terrifying tales from the dead. Jeramiah Hill the owner of Sunny Hills Funeral Parlor would invite some of his closest friends in town to come and hear how people that were brought to his funeral parlor died. Sunny Hills Funeral Parlor was built in 1816 by the Hills family. Soon after construction was complete on the funeral parlor bad things started happening. One of the Hill's brothers got into a fight with the other brother over a girl and in a jealous rage Jim Hill fell out of the two story window in the funeral parlor to his death. Since there were no witnesses, Jim's death was declared an accident. Just weeks after Jim's death, his brother Daryl was found dead in one of the coffins in the funeral parlor. Daryl's father Jeramiah told the lawmen that from the look on his son's face he was frightened to death. Just as if he saw something so terrible he thought hiding in the coffin would keep him safe.
